Being a believer in God is never an easy task. We are promised salvation in eternity, but that doesn't mean this life is any easier...
Every Christian knows that God is the answer to all things and that there is no doubting that. The difficult problem we as believers face is that of faith. But what is faith? Faith is by any stretch, looking without seeing. John 20:31 says, “But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” This is to say that with just the power of belief in the name of Jesus, anything can be possible. Faith is all about making what seems impossible, possible through the power of Jesus. The whole purpose of why I want to focus on ‘walking by faith’ is because day-to-day activities can often seem like a challenge. Small things become bigger things and then your whole life turns into one big problem. I want to explain through my own understanding that not everything will be easy or simple but if you faithfully believe in God, he will get you through it.
Walking by faith is a daily decision to carry oneself in a righteous way with God. Matthew 16:24 says, “Then Jesus said to his disciples, if anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” The devotion to Christ is a difficult battle to navigate even in the small things. The real challenge comes when you must decide to pray and worship while you are in a season of difficulty. Being able to make a big decision to focus on your faith during hardship is one of the biggest steps you can take to getting closer to God. Sometimes taking a step back to reflect on a situation can really mean the difference between letting the enemy take control or focusing on God. Walking by faith is the true essence of being a believer in God. Making the statement that no matter what happens to me in my life, I will continue to praise my God through any storm.
Bringing it around, belief in God is the first and most important step you can take to acknowledge and start your faith journey but being able to walk-the-walk during stressful times shows God’s true strength in you. I encourage all who read this, whether you’re a Christian or not, to do something you don’t want to do to show appreciation to God. Go make someone’s day, bring a smile to someone’s face, or simply do something nice for someone. That is a pretty simple thing to do but now implement that act into your daily routine and try to repeat it even when you don’t want to. This will create a lot more positivity and goodness in your life towards others. Do not get discouraged if you cannot do it every day, but the act of trying is a good start.
Come back next week for another piece called “Faith in Action.” Faith in action is a topic based on some of the daily practices you can do to greater strengthen your faith with God. We are all on different journeys and because of that I want to share my ideas on how we can more greatly understand God and how we can better understand our purpose in life.
Until next time God bless you and have a great day…
